1. Which plan is right for my business?
Weโll guide you based on your actual structure and activity. Most business clients begin with a pre-engagement call, where we review your crypto activity, accounting set-up, and tax requirements to recommend the appropriate plan.

We review and align your crypto transactions across wallets and exchanges, then reconcile them to your accounting records to ensure accuracy and consistency.
3. What does your starting price for each service plan cover?
The starting price covers a typical engagement, including up to 15 hours of crypto reconciliation, 1099-DA matching, tax reports, crypto tax workpapers, and journal entries, plus up to 4 hours of light bookkeeping support, including crypto journal entries and a high-level financial statement review to identify issues before tax return filing.
The Full-Service Filing plan includes the same crypto reconciliation and bookkeeping support, plus preparation of the 2025 federal and home-state business tax return, including the standard tax workpapers, schedules, and applicable tax election statements.

A crypto tax accountant does far more than file a return. We reconcile every transaction across your wallets and exchanges โ trades, swaps, staking, mining, airdrops, NFTs, DeFi โ and establish accurate cost basis the exchanges often get wrong.
We reconcile your 1099-DA forms against your real records so you donโt overpay on inflated gains. We plan the timing of your sales, harvest losses where they help, and structure entities for founders and businesses.
And if the IRS or a state sends a notice, we represent you. A generalist CPA who sees one crypto return a year cannot do this reliably; a crypto specialist does it every day.โ
The IRS treats every cryptocurrency transaction as a property disposition. That means each sale, trade, swap, spend, and conversion must be individually reported with accurate acquisition dates, cost basis, and proceeds.
Here are the questions we hear most from crypto investors preparing to file their returns.
Yes. Crypto taxation is primarily federal, and CPAs serve clients nationwide. Chainwise CPA works with clients across the country remotely, using secure document handling, encrypted client portals, and video meetings โ so the right specialist matters far more than physical location.
It depends on the complexity โ transaction volume, number of wallets and exchanges, DeFi and NFT activity, business versus individual, and how many prior years need cleanup. Chainwise CPA offers transparent pricing and a paid pre-engagement call for complex situations, which credits toward your engagement if you sign within 30 days.
Form 1099-DA is the IRS reporting form crypto exchanges and brokers now issue for digital asset transactions. The totals must be reconciled against your own cost-basis records before they flow into your return โ mismatches inflate your gains and trigger IRS notices. A crypto tax accountant reconciles wallet by wallet to prevent that.
Yes. Many clients come to us with several years of unreported or misreported crypto activity. We rebuild the history, reconcile it accurately, file amended returns where needed, and help bring you into compliance โ often recovering overpayments along the way, without judgment.
Most firms understand either traditional tax or cryptoโbut rarely both. We bridge that gap with specialized CPAs and crypto experts who ensure your books are accurate, your taxes are minimized, and your business is always audit- and investor-ready.
We live in DeFi, NFTs, staking, and multi-chain wallets daily โ the cases that stump generalist CPAs are our routine.
